Lace up your skates
The Raleigh area has several areas where you can lace up your skates and channel your inner hockey player or figure skater. The Raleigh IcePlex and the Polar Ice House have open skate and lessons available. Ice skating not your thing? Take in a Carolina Hurricanes game and let the pros do the work!
Celebrate Black History Month with a visit to the North Carolina Museum of History, with a docent-led tour of the museum. The tour, which runs 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Feb. 24, features contributions of African Americans to North Carolina.
Take a hike in William B. Umstead State Park to find a piece of art carved by chainsaw artists Jerry and Redi and Randy Boni. Carved from a fallen red oak tree, the piece was finished in November.
If you have cabin fever, start planning on a spring (or summer) update to your home at the Downtown Raleigh Home Show, which runs Feb. 23-25 at the Convention Center. Whether you need roofing, windows, landscaping or just a décor update, there is something for everyone here.
We see the beauty in all seasons and we hope you and your family are having a great winter!
