Can’t skip spring maintenance tips for homeowners
When you are planning all your glorious spring activities, don’t forget to add to your “honey-do” list a few routing spring maintenance chores.
We know, we know. You want to be out enjoying the weather and not doing spring maintenance on your home. But by investing a little time in some basic spring maintenance, you can get your home ready for the season and then spend MORE time enjoying yourself.
So what spring maintenance chores should every homeowner do? Here is our best list. Read on:
Spring is a great time to get your landscaping in tip top shape. The local nurseries and home supply stores are full of mulch, plants and other goodies for gardeners and planning and planting in the spring is a great way to shake off the winter blues. So, get out there with your shovel and dig!
Check your curb appeal
Now is a great time to take a walk past your home (and other homes in your neighborhood) to see how your curb appeal checks out. If you plan on listing your home for sale this year, this is an even better idea.
Having a home with great curb appeal can only add value, so make sure you look critically: Is your paint or siding fresh? Do you have good, neat landscaping? How are your walkways? Does your door need freshening up? Be critical and then, fix the issues! It’s also a good idea to keep tabs on what your neighbors are doing so you don’t have the only home on the block that looks shabby.
Every spring, you should clean your windows. We know it’s tedious, but it makes a big difference. If you can’t do it yourself, there are companies that can help you. And while you are at it, make sure your windows are in great shape and don’t need any fixes or repairs.
If your windows are looking lackluster, or are older, spring is a great time to consider new replacement windows!
