Winter (and possibly winter roofing issues) has finally hit us hard this year, with snow and brutally cold temperatures. That doesn’t mean you still can’t have a warm and toasty home! Let The Sunshine In

If you are lucky enough to have a home with southern exposure, use it! On those days when the sun is out, open the blinds and curtains and let the sun warm your home. You’ll be amazed at how well it works! And on days when it’s not sunny, make those curtains do double duty by insulating you against cold air. You can also use sealants or draft dodgers to keep out cold air by doors and windows. But if you notice a lot of cold air coming in you might want to consider…

Look Into Replacement Windows

One of the biggest ways you can increase the comfort of your home is to install new, more efficient replacement windows. If your windows are more than 20 years old, chances are they aren’t as efficient as they could be, meaning your home is colder in the winter and warmer in the summer – and it’s likely costing you money EVERY month in heating (and cooling bills). Check Your Furnace – and Fireplace

There’s a chance your furnace isn’t working as efficiently as it could be so if you feel like your home is always cold, have your furnace inspected. Also, check your filters to make sure they aren’t in need of replacement. Also, if you have a fireplace – use it! There’s nothing warmer (or cozier) than a fire.
